Monday, 25th of September 2023. The light drizzle among the atmospheric streets of the historic center gave us a sense of unease. May it not rain, let's make our vest with its doves-pigeons, so that the world can enjoy them!
And the weather... heard us.
A pop-up graffiti event, for the first time.
On the sidewalk of Nikiou Street, at the corner with Kolokotroni St., there resides the home of “Schedia” (ΣΧΕΔΙΑ) Street Paper. There we we spread out tarpaulins, canvases, brushes and colorful sprays, along with our hearts and a bright mood. Around us guests, passers-by and tourists, like urban pigeons too, full of interest and humanity. They asked questions, took pictures, got excited, wished us the best! The skillful hands of visual artist Kiki Pavlikiani "built" an original composition gradually, with quick movements and ‘wing-like’ strokes, with all the dynamism and immediacy of street art. The final result held a surprise for everyone...
All around, with amazing energy and a positive attitude, the excellent hostesses, Hera Papadopoulou and Myrto Tselenti, flawlessly carried out every aspect of the organizational and communication part of the action. They heartily shared interest and anxiety about the final form. Kiki Pavlikiani was indeed preparing something great.
Throughout the execution of the creative project, the loudspeakers of "Schedia" played the song written for its people, during the difficult second lockdown, with music by Chrysa Kottaki, lyrics by Kalliopi Koundouri, interpreted by the musician, together with Apostolos Rizos , (produced by Metronomos, Thanasis Sylivos). Chrysa was there, along with her music.
And we, the non-profit (ΑΜΚΕ) Art, Graffiti in the City (Tέχνη, Γκράφιτι στην πόλη), members of the governing board, simple members, friends and colleagues, sharing, that special emotion that only art for Humans can create. We all ran around. We all participated. For the most important vest creation!
A wonderful surprise!
A vest full of doves- pigeons!
The project has been handed over to the Schedia Team, and was made specifically for this purpose.
The entire event was done from the heart.
And this is just the begining.
We extend our warmest "thanks" to the people who came and added... their signature to this creative project (especially to our young friend and his awesome rescue dog- Spikey).
