\u0391rt, Graffiti in the City (\u03a4\u03ad\u03c7\u03bd\u03b7, \u0393\u03ba\u03c1\u03ac\u03c6\u03b9\u03c4\u03b9 \u03c3\u03c4\u03b7\u03bd \u03a0\u03cc\u03bb\u03b7 ) (AGC)<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-profit which adheres to the motto that, if you want to know more about a city, you should look at its walls. It was founded at the end of 2021, with previous varied, academic and research output. It\u2019s base is in Athens, Greece, but is also active in other cities in Greece and abroad. Active in the fields of arts and culture within public space.<\/p>\n

In particular,\u00a0AGC <\/strong>investigates, processes and assesses, in an interdisciplinary manner, the diverse effects of graffiti, in its various manifestations, as well as street art, interact with preserved monuments, urban landmarks, antiquities, and public works of art, as well as affects on local businesses, residents, visitors, and tourists.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The field of research are selected historical city centers, in Greece and abroad. To fulfill its scopes,\u00a0AGC<\/strong>\u00a0collaborates with various domestic and international institutions and organizations, academics and artists.<\/p>\n

AGC<\/strong>‘s wide range of activities includes, in addition to interdisciplinary research, cultural projects and actions, organizing seminars and conferences, production of artistic works, micro-events, workshops, partnerships, cultural networks, educational programs and cultural walks, with the parallel development of New Technologies.<\/p>\n

AGC<\/strong> is targets teenagers and young people, taggers and street artists, scientists and researchers, all levels of downtown residents, local businesses, downtown visitors and tourists. AGC aspires to actively contribute to urban innovation, to research and document the tangible, intangible and hybrid heritage of public urban space, promote understanding of complex cultural phenomena in urban public space, and cultivate social and artistic skills in broad groups, while guiding the values of \u200b\u200binnovation, synergy, openness, visibility, social and aesthetic dialogue, inclusion, and sustainability.<\/p>\n

\u2022\t\u03a4\u03bf instigate new contextualization, and critical revisiting with regard to the contemporary ontologies of urban public space.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tTo place public urban space under constant debate and negotiation, devoid of exclusions, backwardness, and conservative blindfolds.<\/p>\n

\u2022\tTo actively contribute to urban innovation; to pursue the recording and archiving of material, immaterial and hybrid heritage in urban public space; to also promote the understanding of complex cultural phenomena unfolding there, with the help of New \u03a4echnologies <\/p>\n

\u2022\tTo bring new artists under the limelight, and to cultivate social and artistic skills of varied groups of people, guided by the principles of innovation, collaboration, openness, visibility, social and cultural dialogue, inclusion and sustainability.<\/p>\n

We are an experienced interdisciplinary team of academics and experts in the fields of psychology, art history and theory, sociology, linguistics, museology, and architecture. Our members are established and aspiring academics, researchers and artists from Greece and the world. We focus on arts in urban public space, with the use of New technologies.<\/p>\n
